LaptopCompat (“we”, “us”) publishes laptop compatibility information. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the site and why.

No accounts required

You do not need to create an account to search for a laptop or look up compatibility information.

Search data

When you search, we store a normalized version of your search text and how many results it returned, so we can see which laptops people are looking for and improve coverage. We do not store your IP address, browser identifier, or any other information alongside search records.

Correction submissions

If you submit a correction, we store the page/model referenced, your message, and an email address only if you choose to provide one (so we can follow up). Email is optional and never required to submit a correction.

Cookies and analytics

We do not currently run third-party analytics or advertising cookies. If we enable privacy- conscious analytics (such as Google Analytics) in the future, this policy will be updated first, and we will avoid sending unnecessary personal data with analytics events.

Affiliate links

Some links to third-party products may be affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). Clicking one may set a cookie on the destination site controlled by that merchant, not by us.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We do not share correction-submission email addresses with third parties.

Data retention

Aggregate search records are retained to inform which models we prioritize verifying and may be periodically pruned. Correction submissions are retained until resolved and for a reasonable period afterward for reference.

Children’s privacy

LaptopCompat is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update the “last updated” date above whenever this policy changes materially.
