Sources
Every specification on LaptopCompat is backed by a stored, citable source, visible on the model page it supports. This page explains what kinds of sources we use and how we prioritize them.
Tier 1 — authoritative
Manufacturer specification pages, manufacturer PDF manuals, manufacturer maintenance and service manuals, manufacturer accessory compatibility matrices, and relevant standards/certification databases.
Tier 2 — corroboration
Reputable technical review publications, chipset/platform documentation, and trusted repair documentation, used to corroborate or fill gaps in Tier 1 sources.
Tier 3 — community evidence
Manufacturer forums and high-quality community reports, used sparingly and always marked as community-sourced. Community evidence never silently overrides manufacturer documentation.
Attribution
We link to the original source rather than reproducing large amounts of copyrighted text. For PDFs and manuals, we cite the document title, publisher, URL, and page/section where known, along with the date we retrieved and verified it.
Something look wrong?
Every model page lists the exact sources used. If a source is outdated, broken, or you believe a spec is incorrect, let us know.
