Check your laptop
Which laptops can reach 8 GB of RAM?
307 of 328 laptops in our database support at least 8 GB of RAM (the model’s documented maximum). That is capacity, not what ships in the box — check your exact configuration, and see whether your model’s RAM can be upgraded.
Where these requirements come from
- MathWorks — MATLAB R2026b System Requirements for Windows · retrieved 10/7/2026
- minimum: 4.6 GB for just MATLAB, 5-8 GB for a typical installation, 25 GB for an all-products installation (5 GB stored here). An SSD is strongly recommended.
- recommended: Graphics performance may be diminished on machines without a GPU. A future release of MATLAB will require a processor with AVX2.
